Shady is currently the Global Hub Lead for Risk Area of Expertise at Rio Tinto. He is accountable for the risk program of 27 assets across 11 countries including mines, smelters, refineries, power plants, ports, rail and JVs.

Director, PwC Canada, Quebec, Canada (2015-2018)

As a Lead for Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) services in Quebec, Shady delivered dozens of projects across a wide range of industries including banking, insurance, media, airlines, mining, transport and others. He presented at numerous conferences and leaders’ round tables on topics of risk, governance, and audit. 

Manager, Deloitte Middle East, Kuwait/UAE (2009-2015)

Kick-starting his career out of college, Shady progressed from Analyst to Manager in less than five years in the Risk Advisory practice. He worked and led projects in internal audit, enterprise risk, governance, process optimization, contract compliance, and delegation of authorities for complex organizations.

personal life

Shady grew up in Tripoli, Lebanon as the eldest son in a family of five children. His father, Khaldoun, played a key role in a family business that had been passed down through four generations since the 1860s. Shady was profoundly influenced by his grandfather, Medhat, who skillfully led a family enterprise supporting over thirty family members and was renowned for his successful entrepreneurial ventures in Northern Lebanon.

From an early age, Shady displayed his passion for music by playing the piano and his love for literature by writing poetry. He is happily married to Suleen Raad, a distinguished PhD holder in molecular biology. Together, they are the proud parents of two wonderful children.
